Sound familiar?

Architecture problems rarely announce themselves. They show up as slower releases, rising cloud bills and incidents nobody can quite explain.

What you get

A clear picture of where your architecture helps and where it holds you back, and what to do about it, in order of business impact.

How a review works

  1. 1. Scoping call (30 minutes, free)

We agree the questions the review must answer: scale, speed of delivery, cost, security or a specific decision such as a rewrite.

  2. 2. Deep dive (1–2 weeks)

I review code, infrastructure, data flows, metrics and incidents, and interview the engineers who know where it hurts.

  3. 3. Findings and roadmap

You get a written report with prioritised recommendations, diagrams and decision records, presented to your leadership and engineering team.

  4. 4. Optional follow-through

I can stay involved as an advisor while the roadmap is delivered, reviewing designs and helping your team avoid new architectural debt.

Architecture in practice

Why work with me

I've spent more than 18 years building and leading delivery of web, mobile, e-commerce, CMS, CRM and ERP systems, so my recommendations come from running systems in production, not from diagrams alone. I look at architecture as a business tool: the right design is the one that lets your team ship safely and keeps costs predictable as you grow.

The review is independent and vendor-neutral. You'll get straight answers, including when the best option is to keep what you have and fix a few critical paths.

  • Solution and enterprise architecture
  • APIs, microservices and integration
  • Performance, caching and scalability
  • PHP, Laravel and Symfony
  • Cloud platforms and cost control
  • AI-ready architecture

Questions teams ask

What is a software architecture review?

It is an independent assessment of how your system is designed and run, covering structure, data, integrations, performance, security and cost, ending with prioritised recommendations and a roadmap your team can follow.

How long does an architecture review take?

A focused review typically takes one to two weeks, depending on the size of the system and the questions it needs to answer. Larger platforms or due-diligence reviews are scoped individually.

What do you need from our team?

Read access to code and infrastructure, any existing diagrams and metrics, and a few hours with the engineers and product owners who know the system best. I keep the time asked of your team to a minimum.

Should we rewrite our application or modernise it?

Full rewrites are rarely the safest option. Most systems are better improved in stages, replacing the parts that hurt most while the product keeps running. The review weighs both options for your situation.

Do you review PHP and Laravel applications?

Yes. PHP, Laravel and Symfony are a speciality, alongside JavaScript and TypeScript stacks, cloud infrastructure and the integrations between them.

Can the review support investor or acquisition due diligence?

Yes. The report can be structured as a technical due-diligence assessment, covering risks, scalability, security and the investment needed, written for both technical and non-technical readers.
